The 4th Hainan Island International Film Festival (HIIFF) will be held from December 3-10 in Sanya, a resort city in China’s island province of Hainan, according to Tuesday’s press conference.
During the much-anticipated event, ‘Golden Coconut Awards’ will be conferred in several categories to winners selected from a nomination list of 32 feature-length films, feature-length documentaries, and short film clips. Right now, the jury is still working out the list, screening more than 3,700 films submitted from over 100 countries and regions around the world.
Marco Müller, an Italian film producer and former chief of the Venice and Locarno film festivals, is a jury member at the festival this year.
In addition to attending several forums, filmmakers, film lovers, and other attendees will enjoy viewing the 100 films which are to be screened during the festival, including films in a new category called "Asia's New Generation", featuring films submitted by young filmmakers from the region.
Media guests should sign up for the event at the official website of the Hainan Island International Film Festival (hiiff.com.cn) by November 30th.
