June 6, 2019, Hainan Province of China and TASS of Russia jointly held the launching ceremony of the official website of TASS ’s Hainan zone and the special promotion conference of the Hainan Free Trade Pilot Zone during the St. Petersburg Economic Forum. Sun Dahai, executive deputy director of the Working Committee Office of Hainan Free Trade Pilot Zone, made a special recommendation. He said that the establishment of the Hainan Free Trade Pilot Zone has given Hainan a major historical mission and development opportunities for reform and opening up, and also provided business opportunities for investors around the world.

In a speech, Andrei Sokolov, executive vice president of TASS, said that with the personal advocacy and promotion of the heads of state of Russia and China, the relations between the two countries are in the best period in history. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and the deepening of cooperation between TASS and Hainan came into being. Both Hainan and Russia can use the platform of the TASS news agency's official website, Hainan Special Zone, to promote each other's historical, cultural, economic, trade, investment, and tourism information to enhance understanding and deepen friendship.
