Hainan fruit and vegetable juice exports rise significantly

Data from Haikou Customs shows that in the first four months of this year, Hainan's tropical agricultural and food products maintained strong export momentum.

Notably, the fruit and vegetable juice category welcomed a rapid increase, with cumulative exports reaching 1,124.4 metric tons—a staggering increase of 141.67%.

Hainan’s main agricultural exports, including coconut water & milk, mango juice & puree, pineapple juice, and aloe juice, sold well in areas such as the Netherlands and Germany, emerging as a new highlight of Hainan’s foreign trade sector’s rise.

Situated in the tropics and boasting abundant sunshine, heat, and agricultural resources, Hainan is China's primary source of tropical fruits and vegetables, providing a high-quality and stable supply of raw materials for the fruit and vegetable juice processing industry.

In recent years, with the ongoing development of the Hainan Free Trade Port, the official launch of island-wide special customs operations, and the continued benefits of the ‘freer access at the first line and regulated access at the second line’ model, customs clearance procedures have been streamlined and trade costs effectively reduced. This has created uniquely favorable conditions for the export of Hainan’s tropical agricultural and food products.

To ensure the fast export of fresh goods such as fruit and vegetable juices, Haikou Customs opened a green channel for fresh and live agricultural and food exports as well as a 'priority document review, priority inspection, and priority certificate issuance’ system, supplemented by convenient measures such as 24/7 reservation-based customs clearance and ‘cloud issuance’ of certificates.

Customs authorities are also assisting companies to optimize quality control systems to guarantee the safety and quality of exported food, thus enhancing international competitiveness.

In addition, on May 17, after passing inspection by Basuo Customs (a branch of Haikou Customs), a shipment of bananas from Hainan’s Baisha Li Autonomous County weighing 20.9 tons was successfully shipped to the DPRK, marking the debut of Hainan bananas in the DPRK market.

"This shipment of bananas serves as our 'stepping stone' to open up the North Korea market," said Xian Guangwen, a representative of the foreign trade company involved in the export. "We not only successfully exported the shipment but also secured a major order from Russia, and are currently in the follow-up phase."
