On November 12th, the Southeast Asia-Hainan-Hong Kong (SEA-H2X), a new cable network of China, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore, successfully landed at Hong Kong. This significant progress marks another breakthrough for China Unicom in the high-quality promotion of the "Digital Silk Road".

The SEA-H2X Submarine Cable is co-invested and constructed by China Unicom, China Mobile, the Philippines' Converge ICT Solutions Inc., and other parties, with HMN Technologies Co., Ltd. as the contractor. It adopts industry-leading open cable access technology (Open Cable) and high-performance equipment such as large-bandwidth titanium alloy repeaters, high-voltage hot-cut submarine Branching Units, and multi-fiber-pair Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexers (ROADM). While providing an ultra-large transmission capacity of over 200 Tbps between Singapore and China’s Hong Kong SAR, it significantly enhances the flexibility of service configuration and the reliability of complex networking. It has built a brand-new high-speed channel connecting Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and other Belt and Road countries to China’s Hong Kong SAR and the Hainan Free Trade Port, fully addressing the high standards required for application scenarios such as cross-border data transmission, fintech, artificial intelligence, cross-border e-commerce, and live event streaming.

Taking the landing of the SEA-H2X Submarine Cable as an opportunity, China Unicom will further consolidate the status of China Unicom’s innovation and technology center in Hong Kong as a comprehensive digital information infrastructure hub. It integrates an international submarine cable landing center, an intelligent computing center, a cloud service aggregation center, and a security operation service center. This will enable better service for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and promote high-level innovation in digital technology and high-quality development of the digital economy.
