Hainan, China’s southernmost province, sits as a geographic “bridge” connecting the Chinese mainland and Southeast Asia, two of the world’s most economically dynamic areas with a combined population of 2.1 billion and a vast market. By fully leveraging its geographic advantages, natural resource advantages, and free trade port opening up advantages, Hainan is making itself a crucial hub for domestic and international trade. It is also making great efforts to create a law-based and convenient business environment on par with international standards.
As China’s southernmost province, Hainan is a regional shipping hub connecting the southeast coast of China, ASEAN, and southeast Asia. It lies on a ‘golden latitude’ along with many top international resort destinations such as Hawaii, Dubai, the Maldives, and Phuket. Hainan is located only four hours or less by plane from 21 countries and regions of Asia, 47% of the world’s population, and 30% of global GDP, and eight hours or less from 59 countries and regions, 67% of the world’s population, and 41% of global GDP.
