Hainan’s tropical island climate means warm temperatures year round, resulting in short crop cycles. This allows crops to be grown in all seasons and makes the province an ideal location for the development of the agricultural industry, especially China’s ‘nanfan’ crop industry, which cultivates over 70% of the nation’s main crop varieties.

2.Depth Advantage

Hainan has jurisdiction over the largest ocean area of all of China’s provinces, and is located near deep sea regions, providing good conditions in the nation for the development of deep-sea science and technology, as well as the deep-sea industry. Traveling just over 100 kilometers by boat from Sanya, water depths of over 1,000 meters can be reached. This is the only region in China where such depths can be accessed for developing the deep-sea science and technology industry.

Hainan’s geographical latitude makes it highly suitable for the development of the aerospace industry. The Wenchang Space Launch Site has been set up in Hainan to take advantage of the low latitude, which allows larger rocket payloads.

Free Trade Port Opening Up Advantages

The Hainan Free Trade Port adheres to the highest international standards of opening up, and is developing a FTP policy system focusing on liberalization and facilitation of trade, investment, cross-border capital flows, people’s movement, transportation, and safe and orderly flow of data. The FTP has a relatively complete legal system, following the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Hainan Free Trade Port issued by the national authorities, which puts Hainan’s preferential policies into law. Hainan has become a new high ground for China’s opening up and a hot spot for investment.
