Hainan’s Jan-Apr. trade valued at 59.84 billion RMB

"In the first four months of this year, Hainan's international trade maintained good momentum and achieved satisfactory results. Hainan’s international trade continued to lead the country in terms of growth, and hit a new high in April." In a press conference on May 20, Tian Tao, Deputy Commissioner Director of Haikou Customs District P.R.China, said that Hainan has made strong achievements in international trade in the first four months of 2022, showing that the free trade port is continuing to develop strongly.

According to Haikou Customs, in the first four months of 2022, Hainan’s trade in goods imports and exports were valued at 59.84 billion RMB (almost 8.95 billion USD), an increase of 68.8% over the same period last year. That’s 60.9 percentage points faster than the rest of the country, the fastest rate of increase in China. 
 
Imports reached 44.66 billion RMB (almost 6.68 billion USD), up 62.8%, increasing faster than the national average of 57.7 percentage points, and again ranking first in China. The total value of exports reached 15.18 billion RMB (almost 2.27 billion USD), up 89.6%, increasing 79.3 percentage points faster than the rest of the country and ranking second in China.
 
In April, Hainan's trade in goods imports and exports measured 16.47 billion RMB (almost 2.46 billion USD), increasing by 80.2%, the highest value of the previous five months. Exports accounted for 4.96 billion RMB (almost 0.74 billion USD), the highest value since January 2021, increasing by 137.4%, while imports totaled 11.51 billion yuan, an increase of 63.2%.
