With the implementation of the free trade port policy and the enhancement of art and culture education, a large number of cultural and artistic activities have been staged in Hainan and the province’s art and culture industries have achieved positive progress.

The Fashion Week of the 2nd China International Consumer Products Expo gathered 28 well-known design brands from all over the world and debuted 593 fashion products. During the event, Guangdong, Shaanxi, Chongqing and other provinces and cities have reached more than 100 intentions of cooperation through offline and online matchmaking and negotiations.

“We want to showcase the great development potential of the Chinese market to global consumer brands, so that they will get more confidence in the Chinese market and be willing to deepen cooperation with Chinese enterprises,” said Huang Cui, Chief Representative of Beijing Office, Hainan Provincial Bureau of International Economic Development.

Ye Jialin, Director of the Sanya Tourism Promotion Bureau, said, “We have invited both Hong Kong and mainland design brands. We also hope to attract more high-quality international brands to Sanya to make their debuts or even settle in the city.”

At the end of June, the 1st Exhibition of Intangible Cultural Heritage Traditional Textile Techniques opened in Haikou, presenting the national intangible cultural heritage projects of China. Hainan, which has inherited the textile technology of the famous ancient spinner "Huang Daopo" and the traditional brocade technology of the Li ethnic group, has shown its brilliance in the brocade industry.

“We hope that we can be able to display national textile projects and even the Maritime Silk Road textile projects in Hainan in the future,” stated Sun Dongning, Chief Curator of the 1st Exhibition of Intangible Cultural Heritage Traditional Textile Techniques.

In recent years, in addition to becoming the shooting destination of film and TV shows, the holding place of popular stars’ concerts and the famous poetic dance named "The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting," Hainan has also held some international art and culture events, including the Hainan Island International Film Festival and the Spring International Art Season. All these have showcased the development of Hainan’s art and culture industries.

In 2021, the added value of the culture industry reached 23 billion yuan, accounting for 3.5% of the province’s GDP. The culture industry is creating more and more economic benefits for the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
