Beginning from September 28, the Kuala Lumpur ⇌Qionghai route operated by Malindo Air, using the B737-Max8 will fly every Saturday from Qionghai Boao International Airport on Hainan's east coast.

Officially approved for renaming as Qionghai Boao International Airport by the Civil Aviation Administration of China on April 30 of this year, Boao Airport’s first regularly scheduled international flight (every Saturday between Qionghai and Kuala Lumpur) begins from September 28.

Qionghai is one of the major source populations of the overseas Chinese. There are over half a million people with ancestors from Qionghai living in 28 countries and regions around the world, including Singapore and Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur is the capital and largest city of Malaysia and one of the cities with a huge population of ethnic Chinese. The opening of this route will further help strengthen economic and cultural exchanges between the two countries, actively expand two-way cooperation in trade, investment and projects between Malaysia and China, and enhance the international reputation of Qionghai.
