If you’re into gaming or follow gaming industry news, you’ve probably heard about Hainan’s policies that help China’s homegrown video games go global.

In line with the Hainan Free Trade Port’s policies regarding the “safe and orderly flow of data,” Hainan is the first place in China to pilot video game exports. It has implemented various measures to bolster these efforts, from subsidies to the facilitation of cross-border payments.

At present, Hainan has deployed 186 games in more than 100 countries and regions.Two 100 billion yuan-level digital economy industry clusters already exist in Hainan, one at the Hainan Free Trade Port Resort Software Community in Chengmai and another at Fullsing Internet Industrial Park in Haikou, with the gaming industry being an key sector in both.
