The project covers a land area of about 4 hectares and has a total construction area of 2.24 hectares. After the completion of preparatory works such as project approval and investment attraction, the construction is progressing smoothly.
According to Zhang Xiangrong, engineering manager of Wenchang Aerospace Supercomputing Intelligent Management Co., Ltd., next, they will turn to the construction of curtain walls and the internal masonry work. They aim to make sure that the project can be fully operational by the end of 2022.
The project belongs to the Hainan Shiny-day Group and is divided into three phases. The first phase costs 1.2 billion yuan to mainly build infrastructures for aerospace sci-tech and data economy applications in line with international first-class high-performance computing research and service centers. After completion, the Supercomputing Center is planned to provide aerospace research institutions, universities, enterprises, government departments, and others with services covering high-performance computing, cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence.
“We plan to introduce the most advanced supercomputers in China, which are produced by Sugon. After installation and debugging, these supercomputers will build the Wenchang Aerospace Supercomputing Center into a data center with strong computing power. Therefore, the Wenchang International Aerospace City will be able to play a positive role in promoting the informatization, environmental protection, and more of the Hainan Free Trade Port,” said Ye Shiyang, general manager of Wenchang Aerospace Supercomputing Intelligent Management Co., Ltd.
