A seasoned professional who closely monitors and has done extensive work in China's financial market, Fang elaborated on the unique draws and boundless potential of Hainan Free Trade Port. “I think that most of the time, people come for visits first, then form relationships, and then start doing business.” During his time in Hainan, he gained a deeper understanding of Hainan's “4+3+3” development positioning. Fang pointed out that Hainan has unique natural resources that other Chinese areas cannot replicate, and noted that the province’s tourism and health care industries show broad prospects for development.

Discussing how finance can empower the real economy, Fang said that UBS, as a leading global financial institution, has been deeply engaged in the Chinese market for many years. He believes there are similarities in the strategic positioning of Hainan and the Greater Bay Area (GBA), and spoke of finding high-end extremely high net-worth individuals and developing Hainan into a settlement or wealth management center for them. At the same time, in the field of securities investment, UBS plans to do more research on high-quality Hainan companies and help them enter the global capital market.
