On the afternoon of December 4, during the “Presenting Hainan Free Trade Port to the World” event on “Local Practices of Chinese Modernization—Hainan Free Trade Port: New Era, New Mission, New Opportunities” at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Blue Room, the Hainan International Media Center (HIMC) conducted an exclusive interview with Mr. Chatchai Viriyavejakul, Ambassador of Thailand to China.

Ambassador Chatchai expressed Thailand’s strong interest in strengthening cooperation with Hainan across various sectors. Praising the achievements of the Hainan Free Trade Port, Ambassador Chatchai emphasized its significant opportunities for investment. He also noted that the Free Trade Port serves as a gateway not only for Thai businesses to enter China’s vast market but also for global investors as well. Key sectors such as energy and services are particularly promising for foreign investment. He also highlighted the similarities between Hainan and Thailand’s tourism industries, likening Hainan’s scenery to Phuket and Pattaya. Ambassador Chatchai sees great potential for the two regions to collaborate in promoting tourism and cultural exchange.

Moreover, he pointed out Thailand’s extensive experience in the medical tourism sector and expressed interest in partnering with Hainan to develop international medical tourism and healthcare services that will benefit visitors from China and beyond.
