Hainan vaccinates 7.3m people against COVID-19

Over 7.3 million people in Hainan have been vaccinated against COVID-19, according to a meeting held on July 7 in Haikou to release Hainan's achievement in healthcare work.

The portion of the province's population that has been vaccinated currently accounts for 94.7 percent of those above the age of 18 and 72.5 percent of the total population, both numbers ranking among the highest in the country.

Meanwhile, Hainan is also strengthening its nucleic acid testing capabilities, with the province's testing capacity having been increased to 258,000 tests per day. The province has set up 5,576 sampling stations, and there are currently 26,991 samplers in service.

Hainan will promote research on the protection of vaccines and the endurance of vaccination effects, evaluate the effect vaccinations have on the population in Hainan as a whole, start vaccinating people aged 3 to 17 as soon as possible, and continue to improve the province's nucleic acid testing capabilities, according to officials from the Hainan Provincial Health Commission at the meeting.
